We are proud to offer students a rich learning environment with a proud history of achievement. With the support of our highly skilled staff and a focus on learning, students benefit from a meaningful, well-rounded elementary school experience.
Outstanding programs, excellent facilities, and a safe and productive environment await students at Rutherford. Their school experiences are memorable as they participate in a wide variety of school events, activities and fieldtrips that take learning beyond the classroom. Students strive for excellence while developing character, citizenship and leadership skills that open their eyes to a world of possibilities for them to explore!
Rutherford School is committed to ensuring that students discover their unique gifts and realize their individual potential. Our inclusive school environment values community, kindness, collaboration, and developing a growth mindset to explore, learn, and grow. We enjoy a strong partnership with our parent community and many community agencies. Our goal is to provide students with a supported academic environment where optimal learning can take place!
Principal's Message
Welcome to Rutherford School!
It is with great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to a new year of learning and discovery at Rutherford School, nestled beside the beautiful Mill Creek Ravine. Every day, I am inspired by our students, staff, and families who bring energy, curiosity, and compassion into our school community.
At Rutherford, we believe in the unlimited potential of every child. Our commitment is to nurture not just academic excellence in literacy and numeracy, but also to foster growth in social skills, physical wellness, and mental health. We value authentic, hands-on learning opportunities that spark curiosity and help students see the real-world connections between what they learn and who they are becoming.
We are deeply connected to the natural world around us. With the ravine as our neighbor, we celebrate outdoor learning and use it as a classroom that fosters wonder, resilience, and reflection. Nature helps us grow not only as learners, but as stewards of our world.
As principal, I believe in fostering hope, encouraging leadership, and building a school culture rooted in kindness, inclusion, and community. We teach students to ask questions, seek meaning, and take ownership of their learning journey. Our goal is to help every student develop confidence, compassion, and the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Collaboration is at the heart of our work. Together—families, staff, students, and community—we create a learning environment where every voice matters and where the wisdom of the group lifts us all. I believe strongly that working in partnership allows us to go further than we ever could alone. I am ready to work hard alongside you to celebrate successes, face challenges, and explore new paths we haven’t yet imagined.
Thank you for being part of the Rutherford community. Let’s make this year a journey of growth, discovery, and endless possibility.
With excitement and gratitude,

Stacey Mabey

School Fees Update 2025-2026
School fees have been recently adjusted to meet rising costs for the 2025/26 School Year. If you have already paid your fees, thank-you. However, there will be adjustment costs added to make up the difference in payment. School fees can be both accessed and paid through Schoolzone.
Often the school is asked about the lunchroom fee and what this fee is used for. This fee pays a portion of the wage for each lunchroom supervisor to watch a class of students over the lunch hour as they eat and then to supervise them on the playground after eating.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office at (780) 466-2891.
